Taupo is a city in the middle of the New Zealand north island, surrounded by 3 big vulcans and a huge lake!
You can’t say that’s not beautiful!… In our first breakfast (we took a overnight bus to get there, coming from Wellington), we ate with a nice view of the lake and with the vulcan in the background! But nothing is perfect: The city is quite expensive!
In Taupo you can bungy jump, sky dive, kaiak… There are many extreme sports to do, but everything is expensive! Usually each “adventure” costs about 100 NZ Dollars per person! Considering that you can do 3 per day, it can be really hard for your pocket!
If you rent a car you can go to the national park, which is full of hikes! You can also run around the entire lake!
As I was there for one day only and also running low money, I chose to do a boat ride at the Huka Falls! The water fall is really beautiful, and also the rivers around… You really fell into a Lord of the Rings scene! The boat is really fast and can do 360 spins, which makes the ride really awesome!
There’s also a hot water river (42 Celsius Degrees!) that ends in the same river where the boat rides!

Ola,meu nome e Juliana sou do Brasil mais estou morando em Christchurch a 2 meses e agora dia 16 de feb estou indo pra Taupo e dai conhecer a ilha norte,
Quero ir para Waitomo caves,Rotorua,Matamata,White Island e Coromemdel..queria saber se e mto dificil andar por ai,pegar onibus etc…pq to indo sozinha!
Ja agendei meu backpacker em Taupo,minha jornada comeca ai,queria saber algumas dicas,o que vale a pena o que nao vale.

É muuuito fácil de se locomover por aí! Eu usei mais o NakedBus.com, mas tem outros! Não sei os nomes, mas no albergue que fiquei em Wellington uma atendente disse que é só ir até a rodoviária local e perguntar! Em Taupo de passeios pagos só fiz o Hukka Jet! Agendei na hora mesmo no iCenter… Uma van me pegou e me trouxe de volta! Saiu tipo 99NZ… Mas vale a pena! Sei que tem umas caminhada nos National Park que são DEMAIS, mas é difícil sem carro! Não tem muitos serviços de vans que vão e voltam de la!
De cara, a uns 10 min a pé do BackPackers ta o lago, que só de ver é maravilhoso e ENORME. Isso porque quando você ve da parte central da cidade, ve na verdade só um pedacinho dele!
O melhor mesmo é ir até um iCenter e ver o que você quer fazer! Tem MUUUUITAS coisas
